SECRET PAL

oh my I have wanted to post this sinc thursday but I couldnt and then the camera has been doing weird stuff (read odd piccs at best) so I am gonna post this without pics and then hopefully I’ll add some photos later. My pal sent me some amazing pinky teal sock yarn and favorite knitted socks (the interweave sock book) some spinning fiber and a totebag from maryland. oh and some cottony yarn which may become a tank top… there may have also been some chocolatey goodness but you wouldnt be able to find that anymore!! THANKS SOOO MUCH pal I can’t wait to find out who you are so I can better thank you (hopefully some photos will follow all this) . As an aside if anyone has some camera reccomendations they would be much appreciated my only requirement is it uses secure digital memory cards… thanks

the blue bird chirped thrice….

there has been some bad knitting juju in these parts but I am working to remedy the problem immediately…. I started a new sock from Knitting Vintage socks (childs first sock ) in some Louet Gems I think I am gonna use this pattern for my sockapalooooza pal but this one is just a practice one. I picked up Interweave crochet after seeing granny bags popping up all over. I like that its cute and a lil kitchy and I think it’ll be a cute summery bag so I have to get some yarn for that (yeah I know that took a lot of persuasion). I think I have blathered on enough for tonight so… Be back soon (hopefully with some pics and the reason the knitting mojo may have been lost )

Still here

Still knitting… this is now my second post blogger seems to have eaten the first one. While I was on hiatus there may have been some spinning (yes actual spinning ike I totally made yarn not pretty yarn but I totally was able to knit a lil swatchlette out of it and its fairly consistent) There were a lot of ufos worked on (I was totally concerned about the MIB coming for me) There was also a significant amount of sewing done and stash reorg. The space bags decidedly sucked. I tried to like the and i did for a really long time until I realized what a PITA they were so I think I figured something else thanks to the help of Ikea ( I love you Ikea so much) There have been tons of mini posts in y head but nothing seemed to be able to come out the fingers ( there is some crazy trap between my brain and my fingers i need to disconnect it.)
There is a small bit of unfinished business around here… I had a contest and never chose a winner. All the ideas were awesome and did make this years list (another day I will probably post them all prob within the week, unless I go underground again) Anywho throuhg very scientific methods (too secret to disclose) we have chosen a winner Tiennie
Please p.m. your address so I can send out your prize…. I think thats all for now folks . Next post will be better and sooner (hopefully) and have pics…

It’s my party…

and I’ll cry if I want to… Well I don’t wanna so… today is my 25Th (eek). I have a long standing tradition of coming up with resolutions for the year that correspond with my age (IE, this year 25Th birthday 25 things). This year I decided I am tired of coming up with them myself …. I want suggestions. Now here is the fun part for you guys…
I want suggestions of cool fun different things that I should do with in this next year. You get one entry for each suggestion. Whats in it for you?? PRIZES (I’m not 100% sure what yet). The Fine print… Contest will end 12 noon on 4/6/07. Please email the answers to me at Suburbaknitsta at no spam dot Gmail dot com (remove the no spam and sub at for @ and dot for . you know the drill. ) with the subject as Contest. Winner will be chosen by our judging panel… Good Luck!

Fools Day

Since it is April 1st also known as Flash your stash day. I pulled out some of the stash (I left it to strictly sock yarn b/c well I am a crumby photographer and couldnt figure out how to take a pic of the rest so… CIMG0382

Getting ready for Passover at chez Suburbaknitsta involved a trek to the local meat market . Holy cows ( I am not above a cheesy butcher pun) it was soo ridiculously busy I was incredibly glad to be armed with my traveling sock. I actually turned the heel standing on line there. This other lady gave me a knowing glance and whipped out a booty she was working on. I think she and I may have scared a few muggles while standing there… I am only sorry that I didnt take my camera with me so I could have taken a pic of this adorable little baby bootlet out of cashmere (drool) More later

Tuesday = blues day

My day in bullet points (because thought in an orderly fashion is not coming)
* I wore sandals (for the first time this season) I need a pedicure. Painted toes to me always look like they are smiling.
* I work with these 3 guys lets call them Larry Mo and Curly. Mo and I do not get along so his brothers in stooginess have taken to screwing with me. Case in point I have a picture of my god daughter on my desk they took it and tried to taunt me with it. I mean seriously how old are you… I may need to seek revenge not sure though how… I mean seriously mess with the girl who plays with sharp pointy objects?
* I picked up my long abandoned rectangle shawl to start knitting only to see that there was a humongo counting error so to the frog pond it went. It was actually a zen moment though and got my aggression out which was a good thing. The Lorna’s yarn from Purl rocks… this is some mini stripey fun. Plans for tomm. include restart on the shawl and then more sock time.
hopefully will come up with a good plan

oh its a Jolly Harlot Day

The Harlot make me wanna sing Mary Poppins?? Knitters in large numbers … what a sight to see. I took my bus (with the icky driver) to Port Authority got Farblungit ( i cant translate from Yiddish sorry) took me to long but I finally arrived at my destination. (actually Kim found me and brought me where I needed to go) Once upon a Tart was quite the pleasant eatery with the coolest duckie thing in the window oh and btw soup involving peas, spinach, and mint is awesome!! Then I hit Purl…(thanks Ina for providing the contrast, my photography skills leave much to be desired) omg I think I wanna move in there. Wow for a tiny store they have a heck of a lot. The wall of koigu made me wanna drool yet I bought none. I did buy some new exclusive to purl Lorna’s sock yarn… Then we made our way to FIT. Where I took the same photo as countless others I am sure… SPM spoke for about an hour and a half and then took questions (which were actually comments) What kind of blew my mind was all the people knitting like a giant SnB and not just knitting, there was a common goal (afghan squares). Stephanie touched on the kindness of knitters which was so evident in all the money collected to Doctors without Borders. Got to meet a fellow Jersey girl, waving to Jessica. All in all had a fabulous day which has been described much better by others… Suffice to say I can’t wait for the next knitter meet up… Photos from the day below
